The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and shade extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
