The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
