The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
