He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And hath fear, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
