The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
