The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
