a large throng from the ancients, 39 And a company of the later peoples. 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 Neither cool nor agreeable. 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 And also our forefathers? 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 will eat from the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 It is He who created you, then why do you not affirm the truth? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten - 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember! 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 Nay! we are deprived. 67 Have you ever considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out; 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. 74
