The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
