And verily, the dwellers of Al-Hijr (the rocky tract) denied the Messengers. 80 And We gave them Our communications, but they turned aside from them; 81 They were hewing the mountains into houses, therein dwelling securely; 82 the blast overtook them early one morning. 83 And what they earned did not avail them. 84 And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but in truth; and the hour is most surely coming, so turn away with kindly forgiveness. 85 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-creator, the All-knowing. 86 We have given thee seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the great Qur'an. 87 So covet not things We have bestowed on a portion of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and protect those who believe; 88 And say thou: verily I! I am a plain warner. 89 (Of a punishment) Like the one We sent down upon the dividers. 90 Those who have made the scripture bits. 91 So by your Lord, We will surely question them all 92 for what they have done 93 Therefore declare openly what you are bidden and turn aside from the polytheists. 94 We will, surely, suffice you against those who mock, 95 even against those who set up with God another god. Certainly they will soon know! 96 And surely We know that your breast straitens at what they say; 97 But glorify your Lord with His praise, and prostrate yourself: 98 and worship your Lord until what is certain [death] comes to you. 99
