In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 Indeed We shall soon ordain a heavy responsibility upon you. 5 Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). 6 Verily there is for thee by day occupation prolonged. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
