Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that day, man will be informed of all what he sent ahead and left behind. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 even though he may veil himself in excuses. 15 (Muhammad), do not move your tongue too quickly to recite the Quran. 16 Indeed assembling the Qur’an and reading it are upon Us. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And it is said: Who will be a magician? 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 and when leg is intertwined with leg, 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
