Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 This (Qur’an) is sent down from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know: 3 Giving glad tidings and heralding warning; so most of them turned away, therefore they cannot listen (to the truth). 4 They say: 'Our hearts are veiled from that to which you call us, and in our ears there is heaviness. And between us and you is a veil. So work (as you will) and we are working' 5 Tell them, (O Prophet): “I am only a human being like you. It is revealed to me that your God is One God; so direct yourselves straight to Him, and seek His forgiveness. Woe to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity, 6 who do not pay zakat and have no faith in the life to come. 7 For those who believe and work deeds of righteousness is a reward that will never fail. 8
