The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
