The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is covered, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and the night that falls, 17 and brightening morning, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
