The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 And the Book written 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And the House frequented, 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 And the swollen sea 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
