The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, 15 when the lote tree was covered in mystic splendour. 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. 25

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
