The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
