The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Woe to every scorner and mocker 1 Who amasses wealth and considers it a provision (against mishap); 2 Does he think that his wealth will prolong his stay on earth forever? 3 Nay, but verily he will be flung to the Consuming One. 4 What shall let you know what the Crusher is? 5 The fire of Allah, kindled, 6 which shall oversee the hearts, 7 it closes in on them from every side 8 In extended columns. 9

True are the words of God the Almighty.
