The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And your garments purify! 4 And pollution shun. 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 it will be a hard day 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
