The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
True are the words of God the Almighty.
