[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said, “O Lut, if you do not desist, you will be expelled.” 167 He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]. 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 Then We destroyed the others. 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. 175
