The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Merciful 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created man. 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
