The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
