Have you then seen him who turns his back? 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 That no burdened person (with sins) shall bear the burden (sins) of another. 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 Thamud, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
