The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And carpets raised. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
