A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 In scorching wind and scalding water 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 Surely they had lived before in luxury, 45 And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme! 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 shall be gathered together to the appointed time on a known Day' 50 Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! 51 shall eat the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And fill (your) bellies with it; 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 WE who have created you, [O men:] why, then, do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Do you give it its increase, or are We the giver? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, 65 'We are debt-loaded; 66 nay, we are deprived [altogether]." 67 Consider the water that you drink. 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We have made it as a reminder and convenience for the needy. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
