The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a fitting requital, 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
