The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
