Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
