The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
