Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 Never! There is no refuge! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 And on that Day there shall be scowling faces, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
