The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
