And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" 32 He replied: 'I will not prostrate to a mortal You have created of clay, from molded mud' 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment. 35 "O my Lord," said he, "give me respite till the day the dead are raised." 36 (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 (Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me. 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
