Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
