Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth; and, apart from God, you have neither protector nor helper. 31 And of His portents are the ships, like banners on the sea; 32 If He pleases, He causes the wind to become still so that they lie motionless on its back; most surely there are signs in this for every patient, grateful one, 33 Or He wrecks them for what they have earned; and He pardons much; 34 And let them know, those who call Our messages in question, that for them there is no escape. 35 So whatever thing you are given, that is only a provision of this world's life, and what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who believe and rely on their Lord. 36 And those who avoid the heinous sins and indecencies and when they are angry forgive, 37 and those who answer their Lord, and perform the prayer, their affair being counsel between them, and they expend of that We have provided them, 38 And those who, when an oppressive wrong is done to them, they take revenge. 39 And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers. 40 If one avenges himself after he has been wronged, there is no way of blaming him. 41 The blame is only against those who wrong people, and are wrongfully insolent in the earth, for them there is a painful punishment. 42 But surely he who bears patiently and is forgiving -- surely that is true constancy. 43
