The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 The rebels' abode, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
