The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
