Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
