The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
