Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth: 2 behold, We have made it an Arabic Koran; haply you will understand; 3 It is inscribed in the original Book (of Books) with Us, sublime, dispenser of (all) laws. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 And how many a prophet did We send to people of olden times! 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 so We destroyed men stronger in valour than they, and the example of the ancients passed away. 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 And He it is who sends down, again and again, waters from the sky in due measure: and [as] We raise therewith dead land to life, even thus will you be brought forth [from the dead]. 11 That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride, 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 indeed, to our Lord we are turning' 14 And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful. 15
