The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
