A throng of the ancients 39 and a multitude of the later people. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And the shade of black smoke, 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Tell them, (O Prophet): “The earlier ones and the later ones 49 shall be gathered together to the appointed time on a known Day' 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 will eat from the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 And drink over it scalding water, 54 And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? 57 Have you thought about what (sperm) you ejaculate? 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun, 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 So what is your opinion regarding what you sow? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 Indeed, we have been deprived of the fruits of our labour." 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
