The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
