He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 olives, dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
