We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations. 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). 37 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: 38 We created them in nothing else except the truth. But most do not know. 39 Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,- 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to another, nor shall any be helped, 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
