He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and in awe [of God] 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, joyous; 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
