The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The time of reckoning has drawn near for mankind, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play, 2 their hearts are diverted. The harmdoers mutter to one another: 'Is this anything else but a human like yourself? What, will you follow sorcery with your eyes open' 3 He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 Not one of the towns (populations), of those which We destroyed, believed before them (though We sent them signs), will they then believe? 6 For [even] before thy time, [O Muhammad,] We never sent [as Our apostles] any but [mortal] men, whom We inspired - hence, [tell the deniers of the truth,] "If you do not know this, ask the followers of earlier revelation" 7 We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals. 8 Then We fulfilled Our promise to them and We saved them and those with them whom We pleased, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. 9 We have certainly sent down to you a Book in which is your mention. Then will you not reason? 10
