(O Prophet), did the story of Abraham's honoured guests reach you? 24 When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown. 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman! 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ He said: "What is then your business, O messengers?" 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 Then We evacuated there from all the believers 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." 39 We seized him and his hosts, and cast them all into the sea: and [none but Pharaoh] himself was to blame [for what happened]. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed; 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 So were the People of Noah before them for they wickedly transgressed. 46
