Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 In a lofty garden, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and had not known my account. 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
