The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
